TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – The Talladega National Forest Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 1,130 acres today, four miles east of Sylacauga and three miles north of Holman Crossroad.
Highway 148 will form portions of the burn boundary, and should be traveled with caution. Smoke will be visible from Hwy. 148, Hwy. 280, south and east of the burn area.
The wind is expected to be out of the north and carry smoke south towards Hollins and Goodwater. Smoke may being to settle down a tributary of Tallaseehatchee Creek across Hwy. 148 towards Lake Howard.
A portion of the Pinhoti Trail will be closed at Trammell trailhead as portions of the trail run through the burn.
Remember, a prescribed burn is a controlled fire ignited by professionally trained and experienced Forest Service personnel.
