TALLADEGA, Ala. – For you Grinches out there, it’s time for your heart to grow three sizes too large for the holidays.
Talladega is hosting its annual “Christmas on the Square” event Monday evening, and the occasion is set to have a central theme that’s all too familiar to those fond of either Dr. Seuss books or Jim Carrey movies.
“‘It’s Whoville Time’ in Talladega!” will officially start tonight, Dec. 6, at 4:00 p.m. with the Christmas tree lighting. The Talladega Christmas Parade will follow later with a scheduled procession at 6:00 p.m.
However, tonight is simply an appetizer for the weekend. From Friday, Dec. 10 through Sunday, Dec. 12, the Square will be plenty festive with booths for vendors as well as arts and crafts. Santa’s workshop will be on display, and an ice skating rink will be available to the public. The times for the weekend are as follows:
Friday, Dec. 10 – 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 11 – 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 12 – 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The organizers are still on the lookout for for the right “whos” to volunteer in order to pull off the spectacular event without a hitch. In the spirit of the theme, everyone must remember that “Christmas doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!”
Plus, who knows, one of you Grinches might end up carving the roast beast*!
