SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Dec. 5, 2020 at approximately 6:45 p.m., deputies were notified of a shots fired call at the Munford Exxon on Highway 21 in Munford, AL.
Responding officers arrived and found a black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a 2017 Chevy Cruz in the parking lot.
Corneil Dontavious James, 26, of Talladega was transported to Citizens ER for medical treatment where he was pronounced deceased.
James was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
Witnesses described a black Jeep that was possibly involved in the shooting. The black Jeep was located on Dec. 6, 2020 at Westgate Apartments and impounded.
This is an ongoing homicide investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
