SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Deputies with the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office along with members of Childersburg Fire Department responded to a call for an unresponsive person on Brown Road in Sylacauga, AL on September 28, 2020 at approximately 5:30 P.M.
The unresponsive individual was identified as Ameir Sherrod Townsend, 18, of Sylacauga.
Investigators arrived to process the scene for evidence and to locate witnesses.
Mr. Townsend was pronounced deceased at the scene by Talladega County Coroner Shadix Murphy. The preliminary cause of death is an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. This is an ongoing homicide investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
