TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – The Talladega County School (TCS) system implemented two new safety measures starting last Friday, Oct. 11, aimed at enhancing campus security.
Walkthrough weapon detectors and Intoxilyzers, devices used to test for alcohol, are now being used periodically across the district.
The portable weapon detectors scan individuals entering school campuses during the day and at after-school events. Intoxilyzers, operated by school resource officers, will detect alcohol on breath and in liquids when necessary.
The district emphasized that these measures are intended to protect students, staff, and visitors, asking for understanding as the new protocols may cause minor delays going forward.
