SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Beacon Virtual Academy registration has been extended for Talladega County Schools, until the close of business Wednesday.
Talladega County Schools announced last week, they will begin the 2020-2021 school year under the Blended Learning Model.
The Blended Learning Model allows for increased physical distancing and increased sanitation, and smaller class sizes will also enhance opportunities for individualized instruction to meet students’ needs.
Students should be aware that success in an online environment is much different from a face-to-face environment and requires dedication and support. Here are a few qualities that will help students achieve greater success:
- Appropriate time management skills
- Self-motivation
- Able to learn independently
- Strong reading and writing skills
- Communication skills
- Technical skills
As a parent, you are an integral part of your child’s education. Although each BVA course is facilitated by a certified teacher, students will also need additional guidance and support from their parents. Parents should:
- Monitor Student Daily
- Maintain Weekly Progress
- Ensure Content Mastery
- Help with Course Navigation
Devices will be provided by Talladega County Schools; however, the Beacon Virtual Academy student is required to have access to internet service.
