SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Talladega County.
Last week, Gov. Kay Ivey issued a statewide mask ordinance to slow the spread of COVID-19, however the number of positive cases in the state of Alabama continues to rise.
Talladega County has reported a total of 652 positive coronavirus cases, with eight deaths.
490 COVID tests have been completed at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
4 patients are currently hospitalized with a confirmed diagnosis.
3 patients are currently hospitalized under investigation.
“We urge everyone to wash your hands, wear masks in public, keep your hands away from your face and continue to practice six-feet social distancing,” said CVMC community outreach coordinator Lindsay Johns.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Jefferson County has the most cases in the state with 9,552 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The state of Alabama alone has recorded 72,696 positive cases with 1,325 deaths and is one of 18 states on the White House coronavirus “red zone” list.
