SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga High School Basketball accolades continue to accumulate after SHS won its first basketball championship since 1988.
On Monday, USA TODAY named Sylacauga’s head basketball coach, William Copeland, Coach of the Year for the state of Alabama. His team defeated Eufaula in the Class 5A state title game at the BJCC in Birmingham by a score of 79-78 in overtime.

“This all all a testament to and a blessing from God to be here and have great assistant coaches and players,” Copeland told SylacaugaNews.com. “This has nothing to do with me, but its more about the people surrounding me. This wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
