SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga senior Schuyler Simmons signed his letter of intent today to play football for Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. in Sylacauga High School’s media room.
Simmons, an offensive lineman for the Aggies, announced his decision to attend Belhaven on Jan. 12.
“I decided on Belhaven because it was a small campus that was family oriented,” Simmons said. “It is also the perfect way to provide me with an opportunity to continue playing football collegiately, and to continue to pursue the fine arts.”
“It was very exciting to see the amount of support I have from the student body, my friends and the team,” said Simmons.
Simmons was recruited to play linebacker for Belhaven, and will study music education.
“I was a little nervous and my heart was beating really fast,” said Simmons. “I will probably never get that feeling again.”
Simmons is also a show choir star at SHS where he is both a phenomenal singer and dancer.
