Sylacauga’s old Food World property will be COVID-19 testing site Wednesday

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The city-owned former Food World property in Sylacauga will serve as a COVID-19 testing location.

A notice from the Talladega County EMA and Sylacauga Health Department said the location, at 407 N. Main Ave., will be open for drive through testing from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., or until supplies last, on Wednesday, April 8.

Those wanting a test must meet certain criteria:

  • Symptomatic with at minimum fever OR cough OR shortness of breath
  • Immunocompromised or has co-morbidities
  • AND must be 65-years-old or older, OR
  • Is a healthcare worker
  • Is associated with a long-term healthcare facility

Officials are asking people to be calm and patient.

Talladega SuperSpeedway will also be a testing location on April 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
