SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga area seniors took a break from holiday season activities to focus on meeting a lot of real world needs during this month’s Senior Resources Expo. A visit to the Maxye Veazey Senior Center can provide the resources you may have missed, and a lot more!
LaKeisha Maxwell, the new director of the city’s Maxye Veazey Senior Center, got creative in meeting her clients many needs.
“We offer a lot for our local senior community besides nutritious hot meals – a place to go, a place to socialize, a place with programs designed to enhance their health and happiness, but we saw a need to bring seniors together with the many community resources they might need on a day to day basis. That was the idea behind our Senior Resources Expo.”
The event went way beyond what the local senior center typically offers. Just look at the list of information they made available:
Just because you or a senior loved one missed the big expo doesn’t mean you cannot get the information you need.
“Just stop by the Maxye Veazey Senior Center, and someone will be more than happy to introduce you to the many things we have going on – our senior-centered activities, programs, exercise classes, and so much more,” said Maxwell. “We’ll be more than happy to hook you up with those community resources you need.”
