SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Senior Lady Aggie tennis standout Kate Gaspar solidified her collegiate future by signing a scholarship to join Central Alabama Community College’s (CACC) tennis program.
The signing ceremony was held on Thursday afternoon, May 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the SHS’s media center.
Gaspar’s commitment to CACC makes her the second signing for Aggie tennis this year, following Zac Hope’s earlier commitment to Coastal Alabama Community College last November. Notably, Gaspar also seriously considered Coastal during her recruitment process.
“I’m so happy and excited,” said Gaspar at the signing. “It will be a [great] experience at the junior college level.”
Under the guidance of coach Cindy Cleveland at Sylacauga, Gaspar honed her skills, particularly her formidable serve.
Now, Kate is looking forward to learning under CACC’s tennis coach Justin McQueen on the Prattville campus, noting that she needs to work the most on her backhand.
Gaspar’s aspirations extend beyond the court. She plans to transfer to Auburn University to pursue culinary arts after her time at CACC.
Throughout her playing career and subsequent recruitment, Gaspar’s mother was always her number one fan.
“She is my biggest supporter,” Gaspar noted, “and she’s been there for me every time.”
With a heightened level of competition ahead at the junior college level, Gaspar anticipates an exciting journey going forward as she transitions from high school to collegiate tennis with Central Alabama Community College.
