SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga High School right-fielder Kaleigh Smith will be playing softball at the next level.
On Monday, the graduated salutatorian signed a to play at Hendrix College in Arkansas.
Smith was a key player in the Aggies’ historic 2019 season, helping lead Sylacauga to its first area championship in school softball history.
“She came in, bought in and worked hard. Now that’s paying off.” said Sylacauga Head Coach Jay Brooks. “Kaleigh could have gone to any school in the country because she made a 32 on the ACT, but she loves to play softball. We are proud of her.”
“She is one of the hardest working kids I have been able to coach both athletically and academically,” said Brooks.
Smith is the eighth college-signee for SHS softball in the last three senior classes.
