Sylacauga woman in ICU after being hit by car early Sunday morning

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga woman is in ICU after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning.

According to Sylacauga Police Department’s police report, 27-year-old Amber Tyler Carden was hit by a vehicle on Old Birmingham Hwy. while walking to Walmart around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The report said Carden was walking in the road when she was hit. After first-responders arrived, she was airlifted to UAB Hospital where a family member says she is in ICU.

SPD Chief Kelley Johnson said the driver of the vehicle was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and no evidence of drugs or alcohol was found in the vehicle.

Carden is a resident of Morris Ave. in Sylacauga.
