Sheka, now 37, has been in the fast food business ever since she was 16 years old.Maxwell, a 2001 graduate of Sylacauga High School, worked only two years as a regular employee before being promoted to assistant manager, and she has now worked herself into the general manager role. She has trained hundreds of individuals, giving them her insight on how to efficiently run a successful restaurant. However, that may not be her best quality. She also has the ability to give off a glow, not only to her employees, but also her customers and friends. You see, Sheka has three children ages 20, 13, and 8.The youngest two have been challenged with severe health issues which make her personal life very stressful. Yet no matter what her day consists of, she is always smiling and willing to go the extra mile for her Wendy’s family. Her managing staff includes her mother, Erica Bradford, Calandra Powell of 8 years, Yolanda Nix of 10 years, and her daughter Shermiyah Nix of 6 years. In total, the four of them have 46 years of managing experience.Sheka admits that she has had one of the best mentors in the business. Erica Bradford, a BB Comer graduate, has taught Sheka a lot of what she knows.Currently, Bradford serves as the District Manager over several stores. The incredible news now is that each year, the Wendy’s corporation holds a contest for Top GM of the Year. Only a few of the best are fortunate enough to win this coveted title. Not only has Sylacauga Wendy’s General Manager Sheka Maxwell won this award this year, but for three years running. This is a feat that Wendy’s has never seen in this nationwide contest.Maxwell says, “I’m only as good as my staff around me. My team is incredible. I am just absolutely amazed at this for three years in a row. We all pull together around here and strive to be the most beloved restaurant in town. You get out of it what you put into it.”Sheka added that her favorite Wendy’s meal is a honey buttered chicken biscuit, and if she had the option of adding anything to the menu, it would be a chocolate pie.Congratulations, Sheka!Keep on smiling and being so nice, it makes a difference.
