SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A new winter attraction is coming to Central Park as the City of Sylacauga prepares to open a community ice skating rink on Sunday, Nov. 30.
The debut will coincide with Christmas in the Park and the annual Sylacauga Christmas Tree Lighting, offering free skating from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on opening night. The rink will remain open through Sunday, Jan. 4.
Beginning Monday, Dec. 1, weekday hours will run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except on Thursday, Dec. 4 when the rink will close for the Sylacauga Christmas Parade.
Saturday sessions will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with admission set at $10 per skater, including skate rental. Sunday hours will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be free to the public.
The rink will close Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1 before reopening for the final weekend of Jan. 2-4 at regular admission rates.
Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult, who are required to sign a waiver. Skates will be provided, though personal skates are permitted. The rink is fully ADA compliant.
