Sylacauga tennis court resurfacing project delayed by temperature swings

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A resurfacing project at Sylacauga’s Beth Yates Park tennis courts has been temporarily adjusted after extreme weather conditions interfered with construction timelines.

Contractors have spent the past two months working to repair Courts 3 through 6. However, sharp temperature swings in recent weeks prevented resurfacing materials from curing properly, creating conditions that made it impossible to complete the work before the start of tennis season.

As a result, Courts 3-6 will return to active use immediately to accommodate the Sylacauga High School tennis program. The decision was made to ensure student athletes have sufficient playing space as participation in the program continues to grow.

Once the high school tennis season concludes in April, contractors will resume work on the project. Plans include patching and repairing Courts 3-6 and completing full resurfacing on Courts 1-2.
