SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga High School Students gathered around the schools flag pole in prayer at 7:00 a.m. before school Wednesday.
The event was supported by one of SHS’s Christian clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Community members, pastors, teachers, staff, and students fellowshipped and prayed together.
“It is amazing how we can have all of these students come out and pray for each other, the school, and each of the teachers,” said Ben Tice, SHS student. The students stood in a circle and held hands as they individually prayed for the well being of their school.
See You at The Pole is an annual event at Sylacauga High School, but is also celebrated around the nation. Students who attended brought joyful and loving spirit into the school halls throughout the day.
“I look forward to this event every year,” said Coach Jeff Steers, Fellowship of Christian Athletes advisor. Steers said he appreciated the students for their boldness in representing something bigger than themselves.
“I loved seeing everyone come out today, one body together, praying over our school,” said Anna Livingston, SHS Student.
About forty people attended the half-hour program.
