SYLACAUGA, Ala. – One of Sylacauga’s most anticipated events every year, the Sylacauga Christmas Parade, will dazzle the community with its 2024 edition on Thursday, Dec. 5, starting at 6:00 p.m.
The event, presented by Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union, features a staggering 120 entries, including 40 floats, 24 pageant winners, 21 horses, 19 vehicles, eight fire departments, six walking groups, and four marching bands.
The parade begins at Sylacauga High School and follows its traditional route down Broadway Ave., turning onto Fort Williams St. before heading back down Norton Ave. and concluding at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
Leading this year’s parade as Grand Marshal is the Sylacauga Beautification Council, a nonprofit dedicated to maintaining the city’s cleanliness and charm. Their efforts include revitalizing the historic Sylacauga Cemetery, updating downtown Christmas decorations, and replanting garden spaces along Broadway Ave.
The parade will close with yet another magical appearance by Santa Claus.
Organizers remind attendees to arrive early for optimal viewing along the route and to celebrate what has been named Sylacauga’s Best Local Event of the year in the Best of the Coosa Valley Awards.
