SYLACAUGA, Ala – The Sylacauga Police Department is searching for a suspect in the shooting death of Christopher Cornell Keith. Police say on Sunday, May 11 at approximately 4:50 p.m., Talladega County E-911 received reports of shots fired around E 5th St. in Sylacauga.
Approximately two minutes later, E-911 received a call of a vehicle being shot into on Curran St. off N Broadway Ave. Upon officers’ arrival, they found two people shot. It was determined that the shooting occurred near the intersection of N Louisville Ave. and E 5th St.
Both victims were transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center where Christopher Cornell Keith was carried to surgery and later transported to UAB Hospital where he died of his injuries.
29-year-old Sylavonta Dvon Mays, of Sylacauga, was treated for gunshot wounds and released.
The Sylacauga Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect or suspects in this case.
