SYLACAUGA, Ala. – In the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 26, the Sylacauga Police Department responded to a distressing scene in the Drew Court Housing Complex following reports of gunshots.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 23-year-old Darrell T’Shunn Maple, a resident of Talladega, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment on Fluker St.
Despite immediate efforts by responding officers to control Maple’s bleeding, the Sylacauga Ambulance Service transported him to Coosa Valley Medical Center’s emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m.
Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy took custody of Maple’s body for further examination at the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery.
This incident marks the eighth homicide in Sylacauga this year.
The Sylacauga Police Department extends condolences to Maple’s family and pledges relentless efforts to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.
