SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Civil Service Board of Sylacauga has announced examinations for more police officers in the Sylacauga Police Department. According to Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson, the department has three open positions.

The purpose of the examination is to not only fill the spots open at the time being, but also to create an eligible roster of qualified candidates when positions become open in the future.
Applications for the police examination can be obtained on the 2nd floor of Sylacauga City Hall in the Human Resources department. There is a $1.50 application fee, and once the application is completed, applicants will be directed to Chief Johnson.
The date and time for exams has not been announced. Starting salary is listed $32, 484 to $43,308.
