HomeLocalSylacauga Police Department warns of phone scamsSylacauga Police Department warns of phone scamsWed, February 24, 2021 by SylacaugaNews.com Digital TeamSHARE NOW SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Police Department is warning individuals to beware of phone scammers.SPD received a call after a local resident received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be Chief Kelley Johnson from the Sylacauga Police Department.The caller told the resident that they needed to pay an amount of money over the phone or a warrant would be issued and they would be arrested.In a press release, Chief Johnson stated that law enforcement officers are not collectors of fines or court cost for any crime or violation.
