SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Monday afternoon, March 18, the Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) announced the successful capture of Jamir De’Jawn Russ, also known as “JD,” in a joint operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Russ, who is wanted for Capital Murder regarding the death of Tamekia Fluker, was apprehended at 25 Hawk Ln. in Sylacauga around 2:41 p.m. after a two-hour standoff.
The operation, coordinated with the Talladega County Drug Task Force, the U.S. Marshal Service, the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, and the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, concluded peacefully with the 16-year old Russ eventually surrendering to authorities.
The SPD expressed gratitude for the collaboration that led to Russ’s arrest, emphasizing the importance of community support.
Russ was transported to Talladega County Jail without incident and is being held without bond on a two-count Capital Murder warrant.
