SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Police Department is advising residents that a representative from RTI International will be in the area over the next six weeks conducting interviews for a federal public health study.
The effort is being carried out on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
Kevin Settle, the assigned field representative, will visit approximately 164 homes that were randomly selected to participate. Police said selected households should have received an official notification letter by mail prior to any visit.
Settle will be driving a 2019 dark gray Nissan Rogue displaying Alabama tag 1A09DC4, according to the department.
The general survey area includes Odena Rd. South, County Rd. 21, North Helen Ave., Pinehill Circle, Tennessee Ave., and 11th St.
Officials emphasized that the survey is a legitimate federal study and that participation is voluntary. Residents are encouraged to review the information included in their mailed letter before deciding whether to take part.
Anyone with concerns about suspicious activity or individuals claiming to be associated with the survey without proper identification is asked to contact the Sylacauga Police Department.
