SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will host a Mother’s Day-themed Cookie Decorating Workshop on Tuesday, May 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
Held in partnership with Sally’s Sugar Cookies, the hands-on workshop will allow participants to create a cookie bouquet designed as a gift for Mother’s Day. Each bouquet will include a “Happy Mother’s Day” pot cookie and three flower-shaped cookies, forming a colorful, edible arrangement. Cookies will arrive pre-iced with a base design, and participants will customize them using watercolor-style icing paints.
Each bouquet includes four cookies, making it suitable for sharing, though families of any size may attend. Additional flower cookies will be available for purchase for $5 each, allowing participants to expand their bouquets or ensure everyone can decorate.
All supplies are included, and organizers said the workshop will last no longer than one hour, making it accessible for all ages and skill levels.
“This workshop is a great way for families to spend quality time together while creating a meaningful, handmade gift for Mother’s Day,” said Lauren Layton, Special Events Coordinator for Sylacauga Parks and Recreation. “Whether it’s a surprise from the kids or an activity moms can enjoy with their children, it’s sure to be a memorable experience.”
Dads, grandparents, and other family members are encouraged to bring children to create a surprise, though mothers are also welcome to attend and participate.
Registration is required by Tuesday, April 28. Register online at Sylacauga.RecDesk.com, by phone at (256) 249-8561, or in person at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
