SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will host “Fishin’ with Dad,” a family fishing tournament celebrating Father’s Day a week early, on Saturday, June 13, at Lake Howard.
The free tournament will begin at 6:30 a.m., with participants allowed to fish until 10:00 a.m. Weigh-ins will begin immediately afterward. Organizers said the event is intended to give fathers and children of all ages an opportunity to spend quality time together outdoors.
Participants will compete for prizes in three categories: Biggest Bass, Biggest Panfish – including bluegill, crappie, and yellow perch – and Biggest Catfish.
The first 20 participants to arrive will receive free Chick-fil-A biscuits. Anglers may fish from the bank or pier or launch a boat on the lake.
While registration is free, Parks and Recreation officials encourage participants to pre-register online at sylacauga.recdesk.com. Only one member of each family is required to register.
All participants must follow Alabama fishing regulations. Additional tournament rules and weigh-in procedures will be provided during check-in.
