SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will host a weather radio programming event for senior citizens on Friday, Aug. 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Maxye Veazey Senior Center.
ABC 33/40 meteorologist Evan Chickvara will be on-site to assist residents ages 55 and older with checking and programming their weather radios.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own radios. However, thanks to the generosity of Bill Pharr with Area Real Estate, 20 free weather radios will be available for seniors who do not have one or are unable to purchase one.
The Maxye Veazey Senior Center is located at 2 W 8th St., adjacent to the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
Sylacauga Parks and Recreation appreciates the time and resources provided by Chickvara and Pharr to help make this event possible.
