SYLACAUGA, Ala. – For the first time ever, Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is offering soccer during the spring.
“The biggest reason we are offering this is because we now have a group of boys and girls in Sylacauga who are not interested in baseball and softball,” said Athletic Director at Sylacauga Parks and Recreation Steve Masters. “This fall we will have kids who are not interested in soccer, so we will offer fall baseball. We are returning the favor to the other group of kids.”
The age groups range will range between 5 and 14. The cost is $50 and that includes a uniform (top, shorts and socks).
According to the Sylacauga Rec Sports Facebook page, the league will be more instructional than it is competitive.
The games will be held at the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation complex, but practice location will be determined by the coaches.
“This is new so we really do not have an anticipated amount of registers,” said Masters.
Registration is taking place now through Feb. 22.
