SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man is behind bars after videos surfaced of him shooting and burning a cat at his home.
According to Chief Deputy Josh Tubbs at the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Drake McAdams of Sylacauga was arrested Tuesday after TCSO was notified of graphic videos on social media of a cat being being burned.
After an investigation was launched, McAdams, 23, was arrested and taken into custody. McAdams was taken to the county Talladega Co. Annex in Sylacauga where he was questioned and later detained.
“In the interview he admitted to shooting the cat and setting it on fire,” Tubbs explained.
Tubbs said the shooting and burning of the cat happened on May 7. Tubbs also said McAdams previously shot a cat that belonged to a neighbor after it wandered into his yard. McAdams videoed that incident as well.
The cat he shot and set on fire on May 7 was actually a family owned cat, according to Tubbs. “He said his mother told him to get rid of the cat, and this is how he decided to get rid of it,” Tubbs said.
McAdams is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty which is a Class C felony in Alabama. Bond was set at $5,000.
