Sylacauga man found dead in vehicle; Valley man arrested for Capital Murder

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – A Valley man has been arrested for a murder in Alexander City after a Sylacauga man was found dead with a gun shot wound in his vehicle.

According to a press release, the Alexander City Police Dept. was notified of a possible one car motor vehicle accident on the westbound shoulder of Hwy 280 in the area of the McDaniel Storage Buildings on 8:57 Tuesday night.

While responding to the scene, dispatch notified officers that the driver appeared to have a gunshot wound. Upon arriving on the scene, officers and fire medics confirmed the driver was deceased, and there was evidence of gun shots to the vehicle and victim. The victim has been identified as Denzel Pope, 21, of Sylacauga.

Shortly after the reporting of the shooting of Denzel Pope in Alexander City; the Dadeville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Nicholas Seth Harrison, 21. Harrison was arrested on traffic offenses and drug charges.

DPD observed physical evidence believed to be associated with the shooting that occurred in Alexander City. ACPD responded to Dadeville and then impounded the vehicle. Alexander City Police Department conducted interviews, collected evidence and developed probable cause for Harrison’s arrest.

Harrison is charged with Capital Murder, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle, and Reckless Endangerment.
