Sylacauga man dies after shooting in Drew Court

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A 34-year old Sylacauga resident that was shot Sunday, Feb. 5, in the Drew Court housing complex has passed away.

Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Drew Court area over the weekend, and after arrival, they found a male victim lying in the front yard of 189 Sherwood Dr. and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 34-year old Devadney Sanchez “Pookie” Lauderdale.

Lauderdale was administered CPR and then transported to the Coosa Valley Medical Center (CVMC) emergency room.

He was later transferred via Lifesaver helicopter to UAB Hospital.

Although he fought for his life throughout the night, Lauderdale was declared dead on Monday morning, Feb. 6.
