Sylacauga man dies after head-on crash near Chelsea

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning, Oct. 29 in Shelby County, authorities said.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Shelby County 11 near Belcher Rd., about a mile west of Chelsea.

Antonio E. Morris, 64, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma when it collided head-on with a 2017 Ford Transit 350 driven by Coleman A. White, 64, of Alabaster, troopers said.

Morris was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries the following day on Thursday, Oct. 30 and was pronounced dead.

No information was immediately released regarding the condition of White.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the cause of the crash. No further details have been made available.
