SYLACAUGA, Ala. – On Tuesday, the Sylacauga Police Department arrested Lavon Paul Tarpley on four counts of child porn.
Tarpley, 42, was arrested for possession of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts (aka possession of child pornography).
Last Thursday, agents from ALEA Sex Crimes Unit, along with the Sylacauga Police Department, executed a search warrant on Lee Dr. in Sylacauga. During the search, digital evidence was collected and agents recovered numerous pictures that met the elements of the crimes charged.
The charges are Class C felonies and could result in 366 days to 10 years in prison. If convicted, Tarpley would be obligated to register as a sex offender.
Tarpley is being held on a $30,000 bond in the Talladega County Jail.
