TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force arrested a Sylacauga man along with nine other perpetrators after a two-day undercover sting dealing with child exploitation.
Henry Franklin Averette, 25, was charged with traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, a Class A felony, and electronic solicitation of a child which falls under Class B.
His bond has been set at $90,000.
According to investigators the ten accused used social media apps attempting to lure their potential victim, a 14-year old girl.
“The officers working this detail did an outstanding job with this detail,” said West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force commander Capt. Phil Simpson. “We hope operations like this get the attention of online sexual predators and ultimately protect would-be victims.”
The other men arrested after the successful sting operation were charged with different crimes with bonds set at varying amounts from $12,000 up to $144,000.
