Sylacauga man arrested and charged for breaking into vehicles Tuesday

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga police have arrested a man for breaking into vehicles on Tuesday.

According to a SPD press release, a 21-year-old male, Michael Drake Fields, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.

SPD said Fields was spotted by residents of the Sylacauga Garden Apartments while looking into vehicles and entering those with unlocked doors. Witnesses called the police department to report Fields.

Officers were able to identify Fields and recover some of the stolen property. Fields was then booked and transported to the Talladega Co. Jail.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle is a Class “C” felony and could carry a sentence of 1-10 years in prison.
