SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Sylacauga man has been arrested on multiple charges after it was revealed he had an inappropriate, sexual relationship with a minor.
James Everett Steen, 34, was extradited from Alaska on Wednesday, Sept. 21, and will now face three different charges for sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 16.
On June 20 of this year, the Sylacauga Police Department (SPD) was tipped off about Steen and his potential wrongdoings with a minor.
Upon hearing about the allegations made against him, Steen fled Sylacauga and flew to Anchorage, Alaska, where he was quickly met by authorities and placed under arrest.
Steen fought against the extradition for over two months, but eventually was ordered to return to Alabama to face the charges brought against him.
Steen was charged with 2nd degree Rape, 2nd degree Sodomy, and Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child and placed in the Talladega County Jail.
All three charges are Class B felonies. Steen can now face conviction of 2 to 20 years in prison for each charge.
