SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Since the Sylacauga City Council decided to terminate the City’s contract with Sylacauga Little League last year, many options have circulated as to how Little League will perpetuate beyond 2018.
On Sunday, the association announced on its Facebook page it would be offering free registration for the 2018 spring season.
“Free sign ups are something we have talked about for the past three years,” said Rocky Sims, Sylacauga Little League President. “Last year, we doubled our numbers and had great sponsorships so we figured this would be the best way to give back to the kids of this town.”
According to the Facebook post, the free registration is due to “one very gracious individual, who wishes to remain anonymous at this time.”
Registration will take place Feb. 1, 2, and 5 at the Sylacauga National Guard Armory.
The League will also be offering a free baseball clinic on March 3 at Wingard Park available to boys and girls ages 6-12 from Sylacauga and the surrounding areas.
“It will be put on my Kennon McArthur and his crew of coaches,” said Sims.
