SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Registration is now underway for Sylacauga Little League Baseball at Spencer Hall, which is located between the two baseball fields at Wingard Park.
According to Rocky Sims, president of Little League Baseball in Sylacauga, this will be the 67th year the sport has taken place in the city.
Registration is completely free, and Sims encourages people to register before March 1, which is the first day of practice. Games will be held at Buddy Peters Field at Wingard Park, and practices will be held at different locations depending on where is available.
Age groups will range between 4 and 13 with four separate age divisions. Those divisions are:
- 4,5 and 6 year-olds
- 7 and 8 year-olds
- 9 and 10 year-olds
- 11,12 and 13 year-olds
“It is very important for the kids because Little League Baseball has been here since 1953, and it has stayed through everything,” said Sims. “It is all volunteer work as well, and everybody loves to do it.”
The information required to register is proof of residency, a vaild ID and the player’s birth certificate.
The coaches are scheduled to have a meeting on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. at Spencer Hall.
