SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Lions Club is notorious for lending a helping hand when it is needed.
Today was no different as the Sylacauga Lions Club made a very generous donation of $1,000 to Alabama Childhood Food Solutions.
Sylacauga Lions Club President Craigger Browne told SylacaugaNews.com the club has been impressed with the work ACFS has done since the start of the pandemic. The Lions Club also donated when the pandemic began.
“In a time like this where you see the need, there are a lot of at risk children who aren’t getting one or two meals at school, people have been laid off or unable to work. Every little bit helps, and we are blessed to have an organization like Alabama Childhood Food Solutions here in town that reaches so many people in this community,” Browne said.
For ACFS, $1,000 will go quite the distance. Six meals can be bought for a single dollar donation through the avenues ACFS uses to gather food. Right now, ACFS is serving nearly 2,000 kids every week,
“We are trying to ensure a better quality of life in our community,” said ACFS Director Jim Jones. “This is one of the busiest times of the year, and we are excited to meet the needs of many families. This donation from Lions Club is a big deal.”
