SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga High School’s Elizabeth “Ibby” Dickson was elected state secretary for the Alabama Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at the state conference held in April. She will be a senior next year at Sylacauga High School.
Dickson was one of four candidates running for the state office. Along with her campaign manager, Dickson created the campaign theme “Get Jiggy with Ibby.” Dickson gave a speech in front of the 2,500 FBLA attendees at the conference.
Dickson has served as president of the SHS FBLA chapter this school year and was third place state winner in Digital Video Production. Last year, she won first place in the Community Service Project category and her project finished in second place at the national competition.
Other accomplishments for Dickson include president and founder of the Sister for Sister Mentoring program; internal vice president of SHS Student Council for 2018-2019; Journalism staff; member of National Honor Society; dance captain for the SHS Signature Show Choir; Miss Birmingham’s Outstanding Teen 2018; and Miss Sylacauga’s Outstanding Teen 2016.
Dickson is the daughter of Nancy and Tripp Dickson of Sylacauga.
