COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has reported that a Monday morning, Nov. 25 crash on US Hwy 280 in Coosa County took the life of a Sylacauga couple.

Two people were killed in a crash involving a Ford F-750 dump truck at around 9:00 a.m., about two miles west of Kellyton.

85-year-old Sylacauga resident William Mathews was operating the Ford when it overturned, left the road, and hit a guardrail before falling down an embankment. 64-year-old Annette Mathews, also from Sylacauga, was a passenger.

Both, who reportedly were not wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA continue to investigate.
