SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City School (SCS) system will be providing free meals to students throughout the majority of the month of June.
From Monday, June 6, until the last Monday of the month, June 30, SCS will offer a free lunch service called the “Sylacauga Summer Cafe” to children 18 and under.
The kids do not have to be enrolled in the SCS system to get the free lunch.
“The Sylacauga Summer Cafe is a great way for kids to receive a healthy lunch when school is out,” said SCS Child Nutrition Program director Kelley Wassermann. “Come in and sit down for a nice meal. The best part of it is that the lunch is free!”
The free meal will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week at the Indian Valley Elementary School cafeteria located at 1099 Oldfield Rd.
The opportunity for this meal service program is afforded to the school system through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
