Sylacauga City Council to hold special called meeting Tuesday

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will hold a special called meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at 2:30 in the afternoon in the Mayor’s conference room.

The council has called the meeting for the following purposes according to the agenda:

  • To consider a proposal from Engineering, Environmental, and Forestry Services Company (EEFS) for filing of application for Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II (ATRIP-II) funding on behalf of the City for improvements to James Payton Blvd.
    • The purpose of this program is to rehabilitate and improve transportation infrastructure by funding projects of local interest, proposed by one or more local governments, related to the state-maintained highway system. Projects may include local roads and bridges essential to such projects. The program’s goal is to address critical needs projects across the state to rehabilitate and improve the in-place facilities and in some cases provide new facilities at locations throughout the state. The program’s focus is an emphasis on the public safety, economic growth, and stability of the state and its roads and bridges.
  • Action to approve City’s FY2020 Transportation Plan pledging the year one receipts from new gas tax to the upcoming 2018/2019 TAP projects.
  • To consider and act upon any new business that needs to come before the council.
