Sylacauga City Council to consider transportation plan, contracts at Jan. 6 meeting

SYLACAUGA, Ala. — The Sylacauga City Council is set to take up transportation planning, contract amendments, and routine financial approvals when it meets on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 6:00 p.m.

Council members are expected to vote on a resolution adopting the city’s FY26 Transportation Plan tied to Rebuild Alabama Act revenues, along with a resolution to amend the city’s copier and printer lease with Ricoh.

The agenda also includes approval of a $900 expenditure from the Sylacauga Animal Shelter budget for rabies vaccination of the animal control officer.

Council members will consider FY25 Accounts Payable invoices totaling $3,199.27, FY26 Accounts Payable invoices totaling $391,697.41, and the December payroll.

A 5:00 p.m. work session will focus on discussion items including revised bid documents for landscape and horticultural services, a proposal regarding the St. John Street property, potential recommendations for a moratorium on vape shops and liquor stores, Rebuild Alabama Act revenue expenditures, and preliminary discussion of FY26 budget appropriations and contracts.
