SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet Tuesday, April 21, in the Faye Hosey Chambers at City Hall immediately following a work session scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
Council members are expected to discuss and potentially vote on entering into an agreement with Safe Haven Baby Boxes to install a location at Station 1 of the Sylacauga Fire Department. The discussion will also include fundraising initiatives for the project in partnership with ACT Families.
The council will also consider a resolution to approve an appropriation contract with the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement and the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce for Gener8tor. Funding for the initiative was approved during Fiscal Year 2026 budget planning.
Additional agenda items include a resolution for budget amendments for the Sylacauga Police, Street, and Fire Departments. Attachments to the agenda outline the proposed changes to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget originally adopted Jan. 22, 2026. The council is also expected to consider approval of FY26 Accounts Payable invoices.
During the meeting, Mayor Dr. Matt Hubbard will issue an Autism Awareness Month proclamation as part of the Mayor’s Report. In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the city will hold a sensory-sensitive meeting with lowered lighting, reduced visual clutter, and a designated area available for individuals who may feel overwhelmed. Attendees are encouraged to minimize noise, and speakers will aim to maintain moderate sound levels throughout the meeting.
The meeting will also include recognition of the Sylacauga High School men’s basketball team and a proclamation for Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.
