SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 7, with a work session beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Faye Hosey Chambers, followed immediately by the regular council meeting.

During the meeting, council members are expected to address several items of old and new business, including a proposed agreement with Safe Haven Baby Boxes to install a location at Station 1 of the Sylacauga Fire Department. The program provides a secure and anonymous option for parents to safely surrender infants.

In old business, the council will also consider approving a resolution related to potential rate changes for the city’s waste management services, currently provided by GFL Inc. The resolution would establish any adjustments to rates for residents and other users based on carts or dumpsters.

Additionally, council members will review a resolution for an appropriation contract involving the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement and the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce for the Gener8tor program. Funding for the initiative has already been approved in the city’s fiscal year 2026 budget.

Under new business, the council is set to consider a resolution approving budget amendments for the Sylacauga Police, Street, and Fire departments.

The council will also set a public hearing date regarding an annexation request for property located at 3601 Old Sylacauga Hwy. The property is currently zoned AG-1.

Other agenda items include awarding or rejecting bids for landscape and horticultural services, with the option to reissue a revised request for proposals if necessary.

The council is also expected to approve fiscal year 2025 and 2026 accounts payable invoices, as well as payrolls for March 2026.
