SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet Tuesday night, Sept. 15, following two position interviews and its regularly scheduled work session.
All activities will take place in the Faye Hosey Chambers at Sylacauga City Hall. The evening will begin with interviews at 4:30 p.m.
Interim City Clerk-Treasurer Kassey Epperson is scheduled to interview for the full-time City Clerk-Treasurer position, while Lewis Robinson is seeking appointment to the city’s Library Board.
During the council meeting, members will consider several items of Old Business, including an ordinance addressing the feeding of wild and feral dogs within the designated “Hwy 280 Corridor Business District.”
The council also will consider a related resolution authorizing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society for services associated with the city’s previously adopted Resolution 56-2026, which outlines a proposed plan to address wild or feral dogs.
Another major item on the agenda is consideration of resolutions related to the city’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget, including associated budget contracts. The measures would take effect at the start of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1, 2026.
Under new business, the council is scheduled to consider authorizing payment of the remaining balance of David Whetstone’s 2026 vacation hours. Members also will consider approval of Fiscal Year 2026 accounts payable invoices and the August 2026 payrolls.
