SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet Tuesday night at Sylacauga City Hall.
The council will hold a work session at 5:00 with the meeting following shortly after.
- Sylacauga Beautification Council to present annual Mary Jo Brown Volunteer of the Year Award, Nanellen Lane Citizen of the Year Award, and Frances W. Conn Shining Star Award.
- Gynecologic Cancer Awareness testimonials – Sondra Epperson, Joyce Beard, Whitley Wheeler, and Doris Moody. Mayor to present proclamation.
- Reading into minutes of Mayor’s appointment of Patrick Lozito to the Sylacauga Housing Authority for the term March 4, 2019 through February 3, 2023.
- Reading into minutes of Mayor’s appointment of Matt Hubbard to the Sylacauga Housing Authority for the term February 3, 2020 to February 3, 2025.
- Public hearing to discuss a revenue sharing and incentive agreement with Hurr, Smith & Sanders, LLC, for the former Broadway Café building located at 205 North Broadway Avenue (public hearing set 9-1-20). Resolution 69-2020 required.
- Public hearing to discuss a revenue sharing and incentive agreement with Hurr, Smith & Sanders, LLC, for the former Stanton’s building located at 201 North Broadway Avenue (public hearing set 9-1-20). Resolution 70-2020 required.
- Public hearing to discuss a revenue sharing and incentive agreement with Hurr, Smith & Sanders, LLC, for the former Rex Hotel located at 200 North Broadway Avenue, and the former Broadway Café building located at 205 North Broadway Avenue (public hearing set 9-1-20). Resolution 71-2020 required.
- Resolution 68-2020 extending additional court dates through December 2020 at the request of Judge Barry Vaughn and Court Clerk Amber Johns, due to the COVID pandemic.
- Resolution 72-2020 setting date for public hearing for the zoning of properties annexed by State Legislative Act 2000-148 – 52 Virginia Avenue, 617 Pine Grove Road, 1878 Tallaseehatchee Road, 7970 Al Hwy 21, 3073 Tallaseehatchee Road, 274 Twin Pines Drive, 524 Loblolly Trace, City of Sylacauga 15.25 acres purchased from Comer Museum, and City of Sylacauga property (Mill Village roads, alleys, easements, rights-of-ways, common areas, green spaces) received from Talladega County). Planning Commission held a public hearing on September 3 and has recommended zoning of properties. (first available date for public hearing is December 1, 2020).
- Authorization to renew Interpreter Service Agreement with Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind effective October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.
- Request from City Clerk/Treasurer Patricia Carden to appoint Yourlanda Burns as Interim Accounting Manager at Grade AO-9 with a minimum 5% increase in pay, effective with the first payroll ending following Council approval.
- Request from Police Officer Adam Grantham for a 90-day extension of leave without pay (FMLA expired 9-30-20).
- Accounts Payable received for September following fiscal year-end close on September 30 in the amount of $20,561.65.
- Accounts Payable received to-date for FY21 in the amount of $50,086.29.
