Sylacauga City Council proposed agenda – May 7, 2019

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet for the first time in May tonight at Sylacauga City Hall.

The meeting will begin at 6:00.

The following items are on the agenda:

  • Public hearing for proposed annexation and zoning of properties located at 310 Arco Dairy Rd, Lot 10 Indian Valley Estates, 202 Pine Street (Walco), 57 Sparrow Lane, 106 Autumn Hills Lane, and 95 Autumn Acres Lane.  Ordinance 2211-19.  Public Hearing set by Resolution 14-2019 3-19-19.
  • IF READY – Ordinance deeding property to Blue Bell/quit claim deed from Barry Vaughn.
  • IF READY—Resolution 25-2019 authorizing and approving contract with Barge Design Solutions, Inc., in the total compensation budget amount of $157,014.00 for the provision of Project Development, Design, Bidding, Construction and Resident Project Representative Services for the Airport Improvement Project (AIP #3-01-0068-022-2019) for the rehabilitation of Runway 9-27 and Runway 9-27 lighting system.
  • IF READY – Memorandum of Understanding – Pursell Tract – Incentives.
  • Resolution 26-2019 approving Tax Abatement to Hocking International Laboratories, LLC for the expansion of their manufacturing facility located at 171B Gene E. Stewart Court, with an estimated investment of $2,807,574 and an estimated increase in employment of 25.
  • Resolution 27-2019 setting date for public hearing for request from Heritage South Credit Union to close a public alley between North Norton Avenue and North Broadway Avenue in the 900 block.  First available date for hearing is June 18, 2019.
  • Resolution 28-2019 setting date for public hearing for request from Sylacauga Area Habitat for Humanity to close a portion of Alexander Avenue/Roberts Circle located off of Alexander Avenue.  First available date for hearing is June 18, 2019.
  • Resolution 29-2019 approving change order authorizing a 233-day extension for completion of Miscellaneous Roofing & HVAC Project (Lathan Associates Project 18-08).  No increase in contract cost.
  • Approval of lease agreement with Bobby Ray Green, if ready.
  • Retail Beer (off premises only) and Retail Table Wine (off premises only) ABC application received from D Thornton, LLC, DBA P and B Tobacco located at 1283 Hwy 21, Sylacauga.  Letter received from Chief Johnson.
  • Request from Fire Chief Adam Gardner to hire three full-time firefighters (approval for positions in FY19 budget).
  • Approve travel/expenses for PD Officer David Kimbrough to attend the TASSRO Conference in Gulf Shores June 2-7, 2019.  Registration fee is $250.00.  Additional expenses for fuel for a city vehicle, meals, and lodging will be incurred.  Estimated expenses for Kimbrough are $1,833.40 to be paid from Carnival donations.
  • Approve travel/expenses for PD Officer Harry Brown to attend the TASSRO Conference in Gulf Shores June 2-7, 2019.  Registration fee is $250.00.  Additional expenses for fuel of a city vehicle, meals, and lodging will be incurred.  Estimated expenses for Brown are $1,833.40 to be paid from Carnival donations.
  • Approve travel/expenses for PD Lt. Renea Cummings to attend the TASSRO Conference in Gulf Shores June 2-7, 2019.  Registration fee is $250.00.  Additional expenses for fuel of a city vehicle, meals, and lodging will be incurred.  Estimated expenses for Cummings are $1.883.40 to be paid from Carnival donations.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Street Supt. Reed Calfee to attend the APWA 2019 Summer Conference in Gulf Shores July 16-18, 2019.  Registration fee is $275.00.  Additional expenses for meals, fuel, and lodging will be incurred.  Estimated expenses for Calfee are $1,250.
  • Approve travel/expenses for Street Adm Secretary Alyssa Womack to attend the APWA 2019 Summer Conference in Gulf Shores July 16-18, 2019.  Registration fee is $275.00.  Additional expenses for meals, fuel, and lodging will be incurred.  Estimated expenses for Womack are $1,250.
  • Accounts Payable invoices received to date for April in the amount of $173,572.39.
